Our Love Story

Kelly and Matt’s relationship began with some sporadic texting, which quickly led to texting several times a day, and eventually became daily phone conversations where they told each other everything. They felt like they had known each other forever, although they had actually never even met! Kelly lived in Michigan and Matt lived in Arizona, where he had been living for the past 16 years, swearing he would never move back home to Michigan where he grew up.

A short couple of months after they started corresponding with one another, Matt came home to Michigan for a visit, surreptitiously for a family member’s birthday, but really to finally meet Kelly, in person. His usual, once-a-year visit had turned into two visits in just two months. His family knew something was up!

His first night home, Matt came to Kelly’s house and made her homemade dumplings, and it was as if they had known each other all their lives. Everything just felt exactly right. They spent more time together that weekend, and when Matt left to go back to Arizona, they knew their lives could no longer remain so distant. They became exclusive, and Matt vowed to visit Kelly every month and move home within the year.

He kept his promise, and nine months later, he quit his job, packed up all his belongings, and moved across the country to live with Kelly, Ella, and Leo. Looking back, it was a pretty bold move, but it was the best thing that ever happened to them. They have become each other’s biggest support system, even through life’s biggest challenges, and they can’t imagine doing life without each other. He has also become like a father to Ella and Leo and has grown to love them as if they were his own children. Kelly and Matt are ready to make their new family official!
